Making a bequest

As individual’s circumstances vary, we recommend that you speak to your lawyer, accountant or financial adviser in drafting your Will. To assist you, if you are interested in including Monash Alfred Psychiatry Research Centre in your Will, we have provided some optional wordings below that may be helpful.

• "I give the sum of ______ dollars to the Monash Alfred Psychiatry Research Centre for its own use absolutely."

• "I give the sum of _____ dollars (or % or residue of my estate) to the Monash Alfred Psychiatry Research Centre for the purposes of funding one or more (scholarships or bursaries) which the Research Manager of Monash Alfred Psychiatry Research Centre deems advisable. [It is my wish that the said (scholarship or bursary) be known as _______________, in the area for which it is awarded.]"

• "I give the sum of _____ (or % or residue of my estate) to the Monash Alfred Psychiatry Research Centre to be used for research in ____________ (field or area) or related fields, provided that if it is impractical, in the opinion of the Monash Alfred Psychiatry Research Centre, to apply said sum in research in ____________ (field or area) or related fields, then to use the said sum for research in such fields as the Monash Alfred Psychiatry Research Centre in its absolute discretion deems advisable."

• "I give the sum of ______ dollars to the Monash Alfred Psychiatry Research Centre to be used for _______________ (specify purpose) provided, however, that if circumstances make the specified use of this bequest impractical or undesirable, the Monash Alfred Psychiatry Research Centre is authorised to apply this bequest to other purposes, such purposes, however, to conform as much as possible to the spirit and intent of this bequest."
