Christina Furtado joined MAPrc in 2006 as a Postgraduate Diploma of Psychology student under the supervision of Professor Paul Fitzgerald after completing a Bachelor of Behavioural Neuroscience in 2005. Her research focussed on the entorhinal cortex in depression and finding from this research have since been published. She is currently undertaking her Doctorate in Clinical Neuropsychology at Monash University with her research being conducted in conjunction with the Brain Imaging and Neurostimulation Stream at MAPrc. Her research interests include depression and the cognitive and volumetric brain abnormalities associated with this illness during depressive episodes and after symptomatic recovery. 
Christina has also worked as a research assistant with MAPrc since 2007. She has worked on various clinical drug trials and is currently involved with the Monash Alfred Trauma Study, which is investigating the effects of early life traumatic experiences on hippocampus volume and memory.
