Brain imaging study considers differences between bipolar disorder type I and type II

Dr Jerome Maller recently published an article which looks at volumetric, cortical thickness and white matter integrity alterations in bipolar disorder type I and II. Though previous studies have used brain imagining to compare those with bipolar disorder to controls, few studies have investigated differences between bipolar disorder type I and II and matched controls. The study reported significant differences in regional brain volume, thickness and white matter integrity between participants with bipolar disorder and controls, as well as significant differences between participants with bipolar disorder type I and type II.
