  • Full time / Part time Specialist in Psychiatry Research - Women's Mental Health (MAPrc) - Click here to apply

This unique position is provided by a joint collaboration between Alfred Health and Monash University, through the Monash Alfred Psychiatry research centre (MAPrc). MAPrc is based in Alfred Health, and conducts world class clinical psychiatry research and is a Department of Psychiatry within Monash University Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences. This position is employed through Alfred Health, which is the main provider of health services to people in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne and is also a major provider of specialist services to people across Victoria

 

MAPrc is a world leader in women's mental health and this position includes the scope to develop and conduct a range of clinical research in women including psychoneuroendocrinology, the impact of trauma on women's mental health, and the development of new approaches for women with mental ill health. MAPrc has a specialist Women's Mental Health Clinic, which also serves as a clinical translation platform for research discoveries. This position is also expected to take a leading role in the development and delivery of undergraduate medical student teaching in Psychiatry

 

Applicants must be legally qualified practitioners, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. Demonstrable relevant knowledge and experience in Psychiatry, women's mental health, research methodology and medical education is required as well as meeting Alfred Health requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in Psychiatry.

This unique position is provided by a joint collaboration between Alfred Health and Monash University, through the Monash Alfred Psychiatry research centre(MAPrc). MAPrc is based in Alfred Health, and conducts world class clinical psychiatry research and is a Department of Psychiatry within Monash University Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences. This position is employed through Alfred Health, which is the main provider of health services to people in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne and is also a major provider of specialist services to people across Victoria.

MAPrc is a world leader in therapeutic brain stimulation and this position includes the scope to develop and conduct a range of clinical research in this area. Transcranial magnetic stimulation, transcranial direct current stimulation, magnetic seizure therapy and deep brain stimulation are some of the current treatment tools that underpin the cutting edge research agenda offered at MAPrc. This position is also expected to take a leading role in the development and delivery of undergraduate medical student teaching in Psychiatry.
