Body Image Disorders
Research Available at MAPrc:

  • Understanding the cognitive problems and neurobiological features of Body Dysmorphic Disorder. This study involves completing a detailed cognitive assessment examining memory, attention and language processing. The participants will also have a scan of their brain to better understand its structure and function. We require BDD patients, OCD patients (as clinical controls) and healthy controls for this study. Please contact Ben Buchanan on 03 9076 6850 or email: buchanan.ben@gmail.com
  • BDD is characterised by unusual body sensations and disturbances in how they perceive their body. We have designed a study to investigate these unusual perceptions using a series of illusion tasks. We require BDD patients, schizophrenia patients (as clinical controls) and healthy controls for this study. Please contact Ryan Kaplan on 03 9076 6850 or email: ryankaplan123@gmail.com
  • BDD patients often report difficulties with their attention. We are running a study to investigate and characterise these difficulties. We require BDD patients, anorexia patients (as clinical controls) and healthy controls for this study. Please contact Emily Patrikis on 03 9076 6850 or email: eapatr001@myacu.edu.au
  • Anorexia can also be characterised by unusual body sensations and disturbances body perception. We have designed a study to investigate these unusual perceptions using a series of illusion tasks. We require anorexia patients and healthy controls for this study. Please contact Miranda Tanamas on 03 9076 6850 or email: atan3@student.monash.edu
