About Us
Founded in 2002, the Multidisciplinary Alfred Psychiatry research centre (MAPrc) has been a source of world-class translational clinical trials and research in mental health for over two decades, guided by the leadership of Director and Founder Professor Jayashri Kulkarni AM.
As a part of one of Australia's leading health services, Alfred Health, our team includes psychiatrists, psychologists, doctors, research professionals, higher degree students, and administration staff — all of whom share a commitment and dedication to driving and supporting world-leading clinical research in mental health.
In 2022, as a part of its ongoing collaborative relationship with Monash University, MAPrc welcomed the launch of partner site HER Centre Australia — a symbol of MAPrc and its staff's longstanding and continued commitment to excellence in Health, Education and Research for Women's Mental Health.
Our approach embraces a ‘bench to bedside’ translational focus, aiming to positively contribute through our research and advocacy directly to the lives of individuals experiencing mental ill-health, their carers and loved ones, and healthcare professionals.
All clinical trials conducted at MAPrc are co-conducted with our participants, who are viewed as key collaborators in all of our clinical trials and not subjects, and whose input and insights are considered critical to informing our work.
